I do have a Chanel cardholder wallet in lambskin, so I understand that lambskin is delicate and more prone to wear and tear. I think I would be okay with spending around 00 for a lambskin or caviar single flap jumbo (as long as it's silver) in a better condition. Although all my Chanel bags are caviar, and so I have no lambskin to compare to, I have to say my 20C large 19 in the dark beige feels very sturdy and even got caught in the rain today and I don’t feel one bit worried about it. I have 7 lambskin bags and I do feel lamb is way more delicate than caviar. My lambskin bags all have scratches and some can't be buffed out. You will have to baby your lambskin bags for sure. I had a Chanel classic lambskin which I bought new and wore for 10 years- they wear like iron! If it’s authentic the quality is incredible.
Understand from my SA that Chanel is using a sturdier lambskin which can sustain better from scratches. This is actually a better lambskin material than the previous one they used. I would say that you are lucky to have your flap in new lambskin.
it's beautiful!! but definitely it varies by batch and if you ask me, vintage lambskin will always be the shiniest and softest (like butter) and modern.
